John 3:30

He must increase,

but I must decrease.

One simple sentence can convey much.  He must increase, but I must decrease.  He must become greater in my life.  Greater than my thoughts, greater than my feelings, greater than my fears, greater than my past - greater than everything.

How do we get to the place where He is greater?  We get there day by day.  One day at a time we must choose to make the Word of God our priority in spite of daily distractions.  When you choose to think more about the promises of God than you do your problems, you are choosing to make Him greater in your life.   When your past comes knocking you make the forgiveness of God greater than those memories by choosing to dwell on His forgiveness rather than your sin.  When you begin to feel sad you make Him greater than your feelings by choosing to meditate on verses that declare the joy of the Lord.

We choose what will be greater in our lives.  No one else chooses for us.  It may be easy to place blame, but it's not profitable.  As long as we believe that we cannot help how we feel or how we think and so on, we will be controlled by our circumstances.  We weren't created to live in that bondage.  We were created to be free!

He must increase; we must decrease.  We need to change our focus - we need to make Him the center of our attention, rather than self.  You can choose today to put the Word of God first in your life.  You can choose today who will be greater in your life.
